AUDITIONS FOR YAAOrchestra

Auditions for the YAAOrchestra are open to all instrumentalists in Grades 9-12 located in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC.

When you register for an audition above, you will select a 30-minute time block. Auditionees for each time block will audition in order of arrival. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time.

Logistics


Please prepare a Grade 4+ Solo and ALL MAJOR scales on your instrument.

Requirements


You will be notified if you have been accepted into the YAAOrchestra by e-mail by Sunday, September 17, 2017.

Those who are accepted into the YAAOrchestra will have to accept their position by paying their tuition no later than the date of our first rehearsal, Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 10:00am.

Auditions for the YAACompany are open to all actors, singers and dancers in Grades 9-12 located in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC.

When you register for an audition above, you will select a 30-minute time block. Auditionees for each time block will audition in order of arrival. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time.

Requirements

1.  Come prepared to sing a musical theatre or art song selection of your choosing that best shows off your voice (ballad or uptempo are fine.)  It's best to bring a song that you know well and can perform from memory, not one that was just learned a few days prior.

2.  In addition, in order to be considered for a solo, please also prepare one of the excerpted selections that can be downloaded below:

  • Women:  Climb Ev'ry Mountain, Take Care of This House, or My Favorite Things
  • Men:  Sixteen Going on Seventeen, A Simple Song, or Edelweiss
