The Artistic Process

Young Artists of America at Strathmore offers various classes and workshops for middle school students to help develop their individual skills in various disciplines, including Acting, Dance, Voice and Musicianship. 

Classes are open to enrollment for all students, whether or not they are participating in one of our Performance Ensembles

JUNIOR CLASSES


BROADWAY DANCE I

All ages
Beginner/Intermediate Levels

Mondays, 6:30-7:30pm

12 sessions per semester
Tuition: $300


BROADWAY DANCE II

Grades 8-12
Intermediate/Advanced Levels

Prerequisite: Broadway Dance I or permission of instructor.

Mondays, 8:00-9:00pm

12 sessions per semester
Tuition: $300

Instructor:  Emma Cooley

Learn specialized technique and exercises that will provide a firm foundation for dancing specific to Musical Theater. Class curriculum will draw on jazz, ballet and various contemporary movement styles that are frequently used in musical theatre choreography. Classes will include warm-ups, exercises across the floor, and musical theater dance combinations.

All levels welcome. No audition required, , but student will be placed in the appropriate class level based on experience.

12 Sessions: $300  or  24 Sessions: $550

Audition Songbook

Grades 5-8
All levels welcome

Mondays, 7:30-8:45pm

6 sessions, Winter 2019
Tuition: $300

Designed to provide students with audition technique and repertoire, the Audition Songbook class for ambitious middle school performers is designed as a singing and acting combo class.  

Over six weeks students will develop an audition book complete with uptempo, ballad, Disney, and character repertoire while further developing their understanding of song interpretation and audition preparation. In addition to solo work, students will hone their rehearsal etiquette, basics of acting in a scene, and learn how to develop a character on stage.

All levels welcome. No audition required. 

Classes will meet the following Mondays from 7:30-8:45pm

  • January 7, 14, 28, February 4, 11, 25
