Kids Classes
Grades 3-5
Classes are back at YAA!
We are thrilled to again be able to offer Technique and Skills classes during the school year!
These classes are designed to be complimentary to the existing YAAKids schedule, so that they can be taken as an add-on, or independently. (Scroll to the bottom of this page to see how these classes coincide with the existing YAAKids schedule).
There are no auditions required for classes, and all levels are welcome. Enrollment in other YAA programs is not required for participation in YAA classes.
How are YAA classes different?
What sets YAA classes apart is that they are led by master teaching artists who take a holistic approach to each young artist’s individualized artistic journey. The focus is always on the process, and students will leave with a newfound understanding of the skills that they need to continue to work on in their various artistic disciplines.
Registering for classes
When registering on Active, you can use the filters at the top of the class listings to organize the classes by grade and semester for ease of navigation. The deadline to register for classes is the day before the first class meeting.

Kids Acting (Fall)
Grades 3-5
Mondays (IN-PERSON)

Tuition: $195 for EIGHT 45-minute classes
Minimum enrollment: 5 studentsDescription: Students will explore how they can use their body, their voice, and their imagination to clearly communicate, create believable characters, and work together as an ensemble to bring stories to life.
Class time: Students who are also enrolled in YAAKids will be placed in a section of Kids Acting opposite their YAAKids rehearsal time so that they can participate in both.
Attire: Appropriate acting/movement attire includes yoga pants, sweats, t-shirts, tank tops, etc.

Kids Broadway Dance (Fall)
Grades 3-5
Saturdays, 12:00-1:00pm (IN-PERSON)Instructor: TBA
60 minutes of instruction for 8 weeks:
September 19, 26
October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
November 7
Tuition: $245 for EIGHT 60-minute classes
Minimum enrollment: 5 studentsDescription: Students will study the basics of movement and get comfortable with their bodies. Curriculum will include jazz exercises, turn and leap mastery, across-the-floor work and will finish with a dance combo each week.
Attire: Appropriate dance attire includes yoga pants, sweats, t-shirts, tank tops, etc. Jazz dance shoes welcome if you have them, but not required.

Erin Wegner Brooks
TEACHING ARTIST
Erin (she/her) attended Towson University and graduated with a degree in Music Industry and Vocal Performance. She has performed Off-Broadway, on National Tours, in Las Vegas, for the Walt Disney Company nationally and internationally, in concerts and cabaret venues, and at multiple regional theatres across the country. As an actress and voice over artist, Erin has worked with GEICO, Wendy's, Clinque, MiO, AZO, Warner’s, Sour Patch Kids, and Virgin Mobile.
