Donor Spotlight: BRAD CLARK

Each month, we will spotlight a community member who is helping to make the Building Dreams Campaign possible.

For our first edition, we are excited to feature Brad Clark, one of the first people that said YES when we told him it was time for YAA to have its own home. Brad is a longtime YAA supporter, part of our Founders Circle of donors, and an inspiring musician in his own right! We had a quick chat with Brad to discuss his support of our campaign and his love of music.

1. How did you first become aware of the work YAA is doing in the community with young people in the performing arts?

I became aware of them a number of years ago when a musician colleague of mine was working for YAA.

2. Why did you decide to support YAA’s Building Dreams Campaign and their new home in Rockville?

Because I had heard a couple of their performances and was extremely impressed with their level of talent and inclusiveness.

3. What is it about the kind of arts education that YAA provides that you think is vital for young people?

YAA helps young people to stay connected to their inner life and expand their mind through learning so many aspects of the music.

4. Do you have a favorite genre of music and who is one artist you most admire?

My favorite genre of music for the last number of years is opera and I most admire Luciano Pavarotti.

5. What has been your favorite YAA performance to date and what made it special or unique?

I really loved The Hunchback of Notre Dame not only because of the beautiful music and performing opportunities for a wide variety of singers, but because of the message that is sorely needed, especially at this time in our country and world.

6. What are you most excited for when YAA’s new home is complete?

I’m so excited and happy that they will have their own rehearsal space where they can have not only dance and recitals but orchestra as well. And it’s awesome that they will have sprung floors!
